Evening Ride

"Western North Carolina history and culture cannot be separated from its forests."
~ Lynda McDaniel
With Daylight Savings time in effect, we took a sixty-mile evening ride, leaving at 6 pm, odometer 4581, (great surprise!) going through the newly-opened-for-spring section of the parkway to the Cradle of Forestry (O-4608). We had the road and view to ourselves.

The Cradle of Forestry is the National Historic site is where Gifford Pinchot and Carl Schenck developed the sound management program to preserve the area forest. Their legacy lives on.
