Balsam Lake, off SR 1756 We found Balsam Lake tucked away near Mallonee Trail in the Nantahala National Forest near NC 215, on SR 1756 --Charlie’s Creek Road. The spot featured a really nice hiking trail, benches, public restrooms, and privacy. The road leading to it was curved, empty, and perfect for a memorable trek on our Harley.
